When was the last time you revamped your make-up bag? ... 2 years go? ... 5?...10?!
Unless you train to be a make-up artist, make-up is something we learn by trial and error. I often meet clients that have been sticking to the same make-up routine for years! The main reason for this? Lack of knowledge and lack of confidence. I want to empower women with the gift of knowledge! When I have had a rubbish day or I'm feeling a bit down, I reach for the make-up brushes! Looking good isn't always about what people see on the outside. It's about what you feel on the inside! The reason I adore my job so much is because I firstly love to make people feel beautiful. Secondly, of course enhance their outer beauty.
As a make-up artist I look at the tones in someones face, I see the colour of a persons eyes and the multiple tones running through their hair, before I see anything else. I then work my way to my clients clothes, how she has fixed her hair. If I'm working from their home I look at the whats in the room. Why would someones living room help me choose the makeup I am going to apply?
Make-up is a reflection of us as individual, when I walk into someones home I see colours, I see textures, pictures hanging on the wall of cherished memories. All of theses things were chosen, they have thought behind them. What my client has chosen gives me a window into her taste, her style and this is what I want the make-up to reflect...her! With so much choice available to us, we can often get lost when buying new make-up. You become overwhelmed by the feeling of what you 'should' buy rather than, what do I actually like? I tell all my clients "There are no rules in make-up, only guidelines" meaning get creative! Experiment with colour just don't use your eyeliner as lipstick!
