Let's talk about healthy skin! We all want to achieve a flawless make-up application. However it is vital to take the first steps in looking after your skin for you to enjoy the benefits. So what are these essential steps to having healthy skin?
Step One - Cleanse
Daily cleansing to remove make-up and impurities in my opinion is the most important step. Now when I say cleansing, I definitely DO NOT mean take a face wipe and rub your face! Your skin deserves more than a wet tissue! When it comes to skincare, my philosophy is simple - look after your skin and your skin will look after you!
Step Two - Exfoliate
Exfoliate to remove dead surface skin cells that dull the skin will instantly brighten your complexion. Please bare in mind that there is an array of exfoliators available on the market. Some are perfectly fine for everyday use, whilst others are more abrasive. I wouldn't advise using these types of exfoliators more than twice a week. I am currently loving Mary Kay's Timewise 3-in-1 cleanser because it cleans the skin, whilst microbeads gently exfoliate and botanicals freshen my skin. Which takes us nicely into our next step...
Step Three - Freshen
I often get asked, what is the purpose of a toner? Using a toner freshens the skin and tightens the pores, it also gently removes residue from skin after cleansing. I love the feeling of fresh skin so for me this is my favourite step!
Step Four - Moisturise
Now we have beautiful clean skin its time to hydrate for soft, smooth skin. A step that I have embraced from as young as six years old! I would sneak into my mums bedroom and steal her lotions and potions, I could always rely on a little Olay moisturiser! - Sorry mum!
Moisturising also covers eye cream and lip balm these areas need looking after too, so don't forget to share the love!
Step Five - Protect
I am approaching my 31st birthday! 6 days to be exact! Protecting my skin from the sun and harmful environmental damage is so important to me. I am a firm believer that prevention is better than cure, I always leave the house with a shield of SPF 30. I can also be seen wearing my sunnies 365 days of the year! My secret weapon to keeping those fines lines around the eyes at bay!
